Macroinvertebrate Collection
Twice a year, Saint Francis University comes to our watershed to measure macro-invertebrates in our tributaries. Samples are taken on Coal Run, Panther Run, Shingle Run, and Dark Shade Creek to measure the diversity and quantity of "bugs" in the water, as well as PH and Conductivity Levels. These "bugs" are a good indicator of the health of the streams. By tracking these numbers, we can monitor progress being made by our treatment efforts.
